Brian Patrick Carroll, professionally known as Buckethead, is an American guitarist and multi-instrumentalist celebrated for his innovative and virtuosic playing style.
Born on May 13, 1969, in Huntington Beach, California, he began playing guitar at the age of 12. His early influences included guitarists like Angus Young, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Randy Rhoads.
Buckethead is renowned for his unique stage persona, performing with a white mask and a KFC bucket on his head. This distinctive appearance was inspired by his love for horror films and a particular scene from "Halloween 4."
Throughout his prolific career, Buckethead has released an extensive discography, including over 400 studio albums, with many being part of his "Pike" series—mini-albums typically around 30 minutes in length. He has also collaborated with various artists and bands, such as Guns N' Roses, Praxis, and Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains.
In addition to his solo work, Buckethead has contributed to numerous film soundtracks, including "Mortal Kombat" (1995) and "Ghosts of Mars" (2001). His music spans multiple genres, including experimental rock, progressive metal, funk, and ambient.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Buckethead is adept in karate, showcasing his diverse range of interests and talents.
