Lil Poppa, born Janarious Mykel Wheeler on August 3, 1994, is an American rapper and singer from Jacksonville, Florida. He began his musical journey at the age of 15, drawing inspiration from artists like Bow Wow, Boosie, Webbie, Lil Wayne, and Meek Mill.
In 2018, Lil Poppa gained significant attention with his singles "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Purple Hearts." The latter track delves into his personal experiences, notably surviving a shooting incident that tragically claimed the lives of two friends.
His debut studio album, "Blessed, I Guess", was released in 2021 and features collaborations with artists such as Toosii and Seddy Hendrinx. The album achieved notable success, peaking at number 160 on the Billboard 200 chart.
In April 2022, Lil Poppa signed with Collective Music Group (CMG), a label founded by rapper Yo Gotti. Under this new partnership, he released the single "H Spot." That same month, he dropped the mixtape "Under Investigation 3", which continued his chart presence by reaching number 194 on the Billboard 200.
Known for his deep storytelling and emotive lyrics, Lil Poppa has collaborated with notable artists including Polo G, Stunna 4 Vegas, Mozzy, and Quando Rondo. His music often reflects personal experiences and challenges, resonating with a broad audience.
