Atlanta Rhythm Section has been a defining force in Southern rock for more than five decades, blending rock, pop, country, and blues into a signature sound that helped put Atlanta on the musical map. Formed in 1971 at Studio One in Doraville, Georgia, the band was made up of some of Atlanta’s most accomplished session musicians, including Barry Bailey, J.R. Cobb, Robert Nix, Dean Daughtry, Ronnie Hammond, and Paul Goddard.

After establishing themselves as one of the South’s premier recording bands, Atlanta Rhythm Section broke through nationally in the 1970s with a string of hit albums and singles. Their 1976 album A Rock and Roll Alternative went platinum, powered by the enduring hit “So Into You,” which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band followed with major successes including “Imaginary Lover,” “Doraville,” “Spooky,” “Do It or Die,” and “Alien,” earning them a reputation as one of the era’s most distinctive and commercially successful Southern rock acts.

Over the years, ARS has shared stages and studios with some of the biggest names in music and has built a legacy that extends far beyond the charts. Their songs have become staples of classic rock radio, while their sophisticated musicianship and polished Southern sound have influenced generations of artists.

Today, Atlanta Rhythm Section continues to celebrate that legacy on the road, bringing their classic hits and unmistakable sound to audiences across the country. More than 50 years after their formation, ARS remains a vital part of the Southern rock tradition, delivering the songs that helped define an era while keeping the spirit of Atlanta rock & roll alive.
