Curren$y is a New Orleans-born rapper, entrepreneur, and one of hip-hop’s most prolific independent artists. Emerging from the city’s rich rap lineage, he first gained recognition in the early 2000s as part of the 504 Boyz before signing with both Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment—a rare distinction that places him in the lineage of New Orleans rap royalty.
After stepping away from the major label system, Curren$y carved out his own lane, building a devoted fanbase through a relentless stream of mixtapes and projects that helped define the blog era of hip-hop. Known for his laid-back delivery, vivid lifestyle raps, and signature themes of cars, cannabis, and luxury, he has become a cult icon whose consistency and independence have influenced a generation of artists.
In 2011, he founded Jet Life Recordings, the independent label and lifestyle brand that has become central to his identity and business model. From early standouts like Pilot Talk to major releases such as Weekend at Burnie’s, Curren$y has maintained a steady output of music, often collaborating with respected producers including The Alchemist, Harry Fraud, and Monsta Beatz.
Over two decades into his career, Curren$y remains a fixture in hip-hop—balancing underground credibility with mainstream recognition, and continuing to release new music and tour consistently, including recent projects and tours into 2025–2026.
